Description:

Weekend outdoors? Make sure your lips are protected.

Daily care will keep your lips safe from cracking and chaffing all year long. However while we all want our lips to look and feel good, protection from the sun is an extremely important part of lip care. Lips needs protection from the sun all year round and it is the part of the body that is often neglected and why it is important to wear a high sun protection lip balm, like those from Blistex, all day every day. When the sun causes lips to burn, long lasting damage can occur. When unprotected lips are exposed to too much sun the collagen changes causing lips to wrinkle and fine lines to form around the mouth. Even when the lips show no sign of the sun’s effect, damage can occur. Just because you can’t see the surface burn doesn’t mean that the underlying layers haven’t been harmed.

Remember – lips don't tan but they do burn.

Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF30+ is made to give your lips a super level of protection without feeling nasty and heavy. Ultra Lip Balm has an awesome vanilla flavour and it's perfect for use at the beach, enjoying the great outdoors or just relaxing in the backyard.

 • SPF30+ broad spectrum very high protection sunscreen
 • PABA-Free
 • Water resistant for 80 minutes
 • Available from most supermarkets, pharmacies and department stores nationwide

Blistex offered 50 members the opportunity to trial Ultra Lip Balm SPF 30+. The chosen reviewers will receive a 3/4 sample size Ultra Lip Balm to review (please note that the sample does not include the usual retail packaging).

If you have been selected to trial, we will send the product to the address you have in your Profile so please make sure that this is up to date. (For more information, read here.) You will be required to post your reviews on Mums Say if you are selected.

The texture and taste of the Blistex is definitely to mine and my children's liking. It stays on and doesn't rub off like most other lip balms that just lick off. It's soothing as well as protecting from the sun and wind. I would definitely purchase for myself and kids and recommend to others.

Finally - like some others who have commented here - we had a good run on sunny weather and were able to really give the Blistex Lip Balm a decent trial!

When we've been to the beach, I've put it on our 17month old twins, our 3.5yr old and of course myself, and none of us have got burnt lips. The 3.5yr old has given it a good sea-water test when playing on her boogie board and it has held up well.

I found it easy to apply, leaving a light film on my lips which didn't feel heavy, clumpy or sticky like most other lip balms do. It doesn't smell either, and the vanilla flavour was very very mild, so if you don't like vanilla, you probably won't really notice it.

I have sensitive skin but I had no reaction to the balm, in fact, I didn't have any problem with it at all.

Better than that, I would definitely recommend purchasing this balm, because it 'ticked all the boxes' for our family! No dry or burnt lips here!!
Many thanks Kidspot & Blistex for letting us trial this product :)

Ok so it has taken me a while to do my review!! I got the Blistex in the mail and then Master not quite 2 hid it somewhere (and I have no idea where lol!!). So I went and got one from the supermarket. I have been waiting for some nice sunny weather to trial it!! What I did was for a few sunny days I didn' use it and noted how my lips felf. Usually bit dry and chapped. Then over the next few sunny days I used the Blistex and noted how my lips felt at the end of the day. I could definately feel a difference at the end of the day! My lips weren't dry or chapped feeling and looked nice and smooth. I would happily recommend this to anyone! The only thing I didn't like was the taste of it but thats just my personal opnion and as it wasn't too over powering I could tolerate it :) It had never really occured to me to protect my lips from the sun ( I know Duh!!) but now it is part of our family routine before heading in to the sun!

I really loved this product! When I first started using it, my lips were quite dry, even though I was using another lip balm. The diffence being the SPF30+ - this makes a huge difference as my previous lip balm had no spf. For once my lips are soft and supple over summer. Definatley would purchase this product - HIGHLY recommended!

Finally some decent weather to trial my blistex! I was a little worried that it would be one of those awful tasting SFP ones and have that burney sensation some of the blistex ones have, but I was totally wrong on both counts. It's got a lovely mild almost vanillay taste taste and is nice and smooth with no burney sensation. have been up painting our roof in the heat and no burnt lips here. I really like this product and would recommend it for sure!
DaniiKennedy - 1:04 AM on Tue-31-Jan-2012 reply | message
Only used this a few times but I have really enjoyed using it. Has a great mild taste, makes lips feel very soft. Always gets rid of dry lips and I haven't had burnt lips while wearing it. 100% recommend.

Today was the perfect day to test this product - it was a super sunny HOT day. Hubby wanted to do a BBQ on our new BBQ set. So I took the chance to apply the lip balm on us apart from our usual sunblock, so we wouldn't get our lips burnt while waiting for our food to cook. It was great! The taste was very very mild, and our lips felt soft & not dry. Good stuff! Thanks Blistex.
SarahK - 6:56 PM on Thu-26-Jan-2012 reply | message
I love this product!!! My husband has been doing the trial for me, since he is the one who spends almost all day in the sun every day. The big test for him was using it in the surf. With huge success! His lips are REALLY soft (hmm wonder how i know that? :P) and have not been burnt since he started using it. We will be buying this again, and i know he has recommended it to his surfing friends also.
I also gave it a go, and it felt great! might buy one for myself too!
My husband said it is way better than any product he has used before. He used to suffer from dry lips, and hasn't since using blistex!! Thanks Blistex and Kidspot!!!

Unfortunately I can't rave about this product. I am a MAD FAN of the Blistex Tub's but this just really annoyed me.

I was expecting a sheer, silky balm that stayed on and didn't bunch up on my lips... And what I got was a huge embarrassing mess on my lips after an hour of shopping. I looked in the mirror in the car and just about died. It was like I had worms stuck to my lips and it was so strange- I've never seen a balm do that before. It felt cakey and it left a strange colour like a creamy white - making my lips look unhealthy and odd. After trying it numerous times in different situations (park, mall, walking) I have given up.

It doesn't get a tick of approval from me but seeing how well it's helped others would definitely push me to give it a go if I hadn't tried it before. I may just be the 1% it doesn't work for!

Thanks so much for the trial, it was such a good one.
The Blistex lipbalm was great, went on easy, felt nice- not too greasy like some and lasted really well, Also nice knowing you can't get your lips burnt when you out in the sun. Will buy more when it runs out!

Finally some great weather to give this a decent trial! I'm a regular lip balm wearer, as I do get dry lips quite easily, and I'm pleased to get one with sunscreen included. I've tried a zinc oxide based lip sunscreen before which was too firm to apply easily to lips. The Blistex is much more like normal lip balm, smooth and soft to apply, with a nice subtle scent. It lasts well out in the sun, even after eating; and it was easy to remember to use and re-apply through the day. Fantastic product to have in the bag for sunny days while out & about.

Loving the blistex, so handy to keep in your pocket so its there whenever you need it. Its a lovely consistency, would definately buy it once it runs out.

So we have had some lovely sunny days recently....everyone has had Blistex on when going outside (is part of the sunscreen ritual now!) and no more dry lips!! My son who used to have almost constant dry flaky lips now has lovely soft lips!!
ChristineC - 7:46 AM on Tue-17-Jan-2012 reply | message
I am a huge blistex fan - usually the little tub, but this might just have me converted - it is so easy to grab and apply even with a little one in one arm! It has hardly any smell which is a plus, doesn't taste and conditions my lips beautifully. I have a tendancy to get dry lips in the sun, but this has kept them in top condition. I also love the bright blue - it is easy to find in the nappy bag. I would definitely recommend this to others and buy it again.

I've been using my tube of Blistex for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love it! I never used to be a big fan of lip balm but now that I'm using it all the time I wouldn't be without it. I really like this one too, it's nice and soft on the lips without being greasy or overpowering in fragrance. I have recommended it to quite a few friends now and will definitely continue to buy it when my tube runs out. Interestingly, my children were really keen to try it and love it as well. My son has asked me to buy him a tube to put in his school bag for when he runs around in the sun at lunch time which I thought was a really sensible idea so I'll be doing that next week! Thanks again for the chance to trial Blistex!

Because of the not-so-wonderful that we have had since I received my trial size Blistex Ultra Balm SPF 30+ I haven't been able to test it in the sun as such but I can say this...

I have found that since I have been using the Blistex Ultra Balm that I have been having to use lip conditioner less - once in the morning and once in the evening as it has kept my lips lovely and moist without them drying out throughout the day and having to reapply it constantly like with other lip balms.
Strongly recommend it just for this if you have constant dry lips.

Thanks for the opportunity to try this great product Kidspot and Blistex :-)

I've been applying the Blistex Lip Balm onto myself and my grandchildren when they have been over in the holidays and they have been in and out of the pool with me reapplying the lip balm after lunch . I have found that it certainly has protected my lips and my grandchildrens' which I didn't think they would be as soft and no cracks in the lips as other years. The vanilla smell is lovely and I will have no doubt now that the Blistex does work and have recommended it to other grandmas.
Gerald - 1:16 PM on Thu-12-Jan-2012 reply | message
I actually quite like the 3/4 sample size - I think it doesn't get in the way as much in a toilet bag, glove box, etc (though I don't know what the ladies think of it in their handbags versus lipsticks etc). I guess it comes down to how often you use it in comparison to other similar size items. If it was available for purchase, I'd go for this size.
Starlet - 12:11 PM on Thu-12-Jan-2012 reply | message
Thanks for the chance to trial the Blistex Ultra Lip Balm. First impression was about the container - I need hardy things that can handle rolling around in my bags packed with baby/kid stuff constantly, and also things that are easy to use with two kids that just don't stop. The tubes are great for this and a wind up lip balm is easy to use plus can be rolled away when little fingers sneakily go through my stuff. I like the smell. I also think its fab to use for the whole family when out in the sun or strong winds for protection. Couldn't see us using it every day though unless our lips became super dry.
arnabanana - 5:11 PM on Wed-11-Jan-2012 reply | message
Thanks Kidspot for the opportunity to trial this product. My sample arrived just in time before we went away for our beach holiday so it was perfect timing. The whole family used the stick while we were away and there were no complaints from the little snappers so I take that as a thumbs up. Hubby honestly wasn't that fussed as he's a bit of a macho guy and wasn't really keen on even letting me put it on him in the first place. But he was happy that he didn't get burnt lips while out fishing!!
I liked the flavour but as I'm not really much of a lip sunscreen wearer I found the flavour of the sunscreen coming through tobe a bit weird for the first few minutes after application.
LOVED that it seemed to last ages without being eaten off, and my lips remained smooth and juicy throughout the holiday.
I would definately recommend to others and have brought a spare one for the car too.

I guess we write our review here? Thankyou very, we have been using it daily and love the smell and flavour! I have had the pottle one before also and found the stick one alot easier to use. Thanks again :) Great product

Thanks for the trial of Blistex! My daughter always used the pottle size Blistex but I didn't like the idea of everyone sticking their fingers into it, especailly at the beach where sand gets into it! So this stick size is fantastic, it slips into my pocket or bag, and doesn't melt! Smells good, tastes good, and I don't get cracked or dried red horrible lips! Yay!

What an excellent trial - I am so pleased I got to be a part of it!!
First of all let me say - I can not go a day without using a Lip Balm. I have been using the same brand for many years. I have occasionally tried other brands however had always gone back to my previous brand as it didn't leave an awful taste in your mouth and it did the trick.
On opening my envelope (which was saturated due to this awful weather) my Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF30+ was in perfect condition due to the packaging.
It is bright blue in colour and rather small which is perfect for a ladies handbag. Fitted in without taking up too much space and I could always find it thanks to the colour.
The smell is to die for, I didn't need to apply it as often as I do with the other brand I normally use and was extremely happy with the way it kept my lips smooth and kissable lol.
I would definately recommend the Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF30+ to others and will continue using it myself.
Thanks so much Kidspot and Blistex for enabling me to be part of the trail.

Thanks for letting me trial this product, it was amazing. My 4 year old son and my husband loved it as it gave them the protection with out feeling sticky. My husband did not have a issue putting it on in front of his softball mates and even got them hooked on the stuff. It worked well under my lippy as well perfect product will always be in my bag now, and my husbands.

This product is great. Not sure if it is always this size, but the trial sample I was sent is so handy. Small enough to go in your handbag or pocket. I used mine for two days running, before it mysteriously disappeared. A few days later I found it in my husbands car. Turns out he also thinks it is great. He is a real fan of vanilla flavoured stuff. He is quite fair and suffers from dry lips. He also goes out in the boat alot and has been wanting some lip stuff for ages. He has never mentioned it of course. I do the shopping and apparently I am supposed to read minds too. When I found MY Blistex lip balm in his car, I was pleased to see that even though it was probably quite hot it didn't melt or go funny, which is always a bonus. It seems that I might be buying more of this product to keep him happy.

Thanks for giving us the chance to use the Blistex lip balm!!
Im a sunblock person and it's great to have something for our lips too! The Vanilla flavour and scent was an extra bonus and the balm didn't feel greasy or oily on my lips which I find a lot of balms do so that was great!
It stayed on for a long time and definately did the job with the added bonus of keeping my lips moisturized as they do get a bit dry. I would use and buy this product again!!!

Thanks for choosing us for the Blistex lip balm trial. I'm not much of a lip balm fan, but thought I'd give it a go. I have to say I liked better than others I have tried, but am not that keen on the vanilla flavour! My kids (preschoolers) LOVE it though. It has since become theirs. Mr 2 puts sunscreen on his face in the morning when I put on my SPF15 moisturiser, and then his lip balm while I put on my makeup!!! And then we are ready to go :) Over all I think I would recommend it, and will continue to get it for my boys, as I believe sun safety is VERY important - and it is never too early to start.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to review the Blistex Ultra Lip Balm. I love the Vanilla Flavour of it - smells so great too. And I found that it lasted really well too after you have applied it - which generally I find very hard to find a lip balm that lasts very long at all!. And also on the bonus side it makes my lips feel very soft too which in these warmer days tend to get rather dry quickly - but not with the help of this. Thanks!!

thank you for the Blistex lip balm trial - my sensitive lips feel very happy - SPF30+ is what I needed, even with not much summer weather in Welly this week the lip balm was very useful to keep my lips from cracking. I love its vanilla smell and taste, very delicate product for my delicate lips! I am sure it will be great on the plane too in a couple of months when we travel long hours overseas!

Thanks so much for choosing us for the Blistex trial. We've used it as a family 2x already -- a whole day at the Tawharanui beach on 2 Jan and a day of fun at Rainbows End on 4 Jan. We all love the vanilla flavour and smell. I had to remind my kids not to lick the lip balm off, though. It certainly lasted long, was waterproof, and protected our lips. My kids lips were all dry and chappy before and are now supple and smooth. We'll definitely continue to use this and I'll buy 1 for each of us.

Thanks Kidspot and Blistex for letting us trial this great product, my lips have never felt better after not using anythng to using this everyday I would definately recommend it for healthy moisturised feeling lips. They have not felt like they are slightly burned which they often do and they are smooth and not peely or rough feeling so a definate thumbs up from me for Blistex.

Thank you for letting our family trial this. we took it with us away to the Waihi beach and my son loved the blistex. he said it was easy to put on and had a yummy taste and it didn't go all gluggy (his words) and didn't feel like lipstick as he doesn't want to be like a girl. I personally thought it was great too and I also put it on my 10 month old baby and she didn't mind at all. I wont be going back to the old sunscreen and will be buying Blistex from now on.

Thank you for letting my family try this product!! When the rain finally stopped we all gave it a try.....love the stick as it is easy for kids to put on (mine are 1, 3 and 5) and the oldest 3 commented on the yummy taste! I love the smell and feel of it when on and after a day in the sun yesterday no one has dry chapped lips!! I will definitely be buying this to protect my families lips as the other high SPF lip balm I tried was thick, sticky, tasted awful and left white residue!

I have been a fan of Blistex for a while. I have sensitive skin so have to be careful about what I apply to my lips. I have been using the Blistex that comes in a pot, but have now been converted to this. It feels really nice on my lips and they haven't dried out as quickly. After trying on myself and having no adverse reactions I felt comfortable using it on my children. A sunny day at the beach with us all wearing it had us all return home with lips looking the same as when we left home that morning. I have definitely been converted and will continue using this from now on. Thank you for letting me trial it.

Thank you for letting us try the Blistex conditioner. I have used Blistex products many times in the past, but more as a cure rather than a preventative of chapped lips. The product smells lovely and doesn't look like I have just applied sunscreen to my lips when I apply it. I usually find at this time of year the sun and wind burn causes lots of unsightly lip peeling but using the Blistex product actually stopped this happening. My mother had chapped lips and I gave her this to try and it cleared it up in a matter of days. I think its a great all rounder for the changing weather here and would definitely use it again.
Keryn247 - 9:11 AM on Wed-4-Jan-2012 reply | message
As a blistex fan already, I was keen to try this one. I usually use Blistex lip conditioner, which cones in a little pottle. So my first comment is that I love the fact this one is in a stick, Its easier and cleaner than dipping my finger in.

It smelt nice, it does feel slightly thicker or heavier than the lip conditioner, but once I got use to it that felt fine. I think It might last longer on my lips than the conditioner, I dont recall having to reapply too often. My sister borrowed it at the beach she said it tasted nice, and neither of our lips got wind or sun burnt.

Overall I think it is a really good lip balm

When I received this Ultra Lip Balm SPF 30+ product the weather was still rainy, but the last three days have been gorgeous. Our family of 5 went on a 3 hour walk yesterday up into the hills with the sun and wind and I put this balm on everyone as I have noticed the two older boys' lips have been dry and need moisturising. I'm afraid that we remember to put on suncream, but rarely put anything on the lips.

I found this balm smooth and a lovely vanilla taste which the children also noticed. There were no complaints when I reapplied the balm after a snack on the track as it is very tiny to just slip in the pocket. We all found that it did moisturise the lips and kept the sun and wind from drying them out. Excellent protection which I will use and use for years to come.
Nilithya - 7:27 PM on Tue-3-Jan-2012 reply | message
Thank you for letting us try this! LOVE the smell, it is gorgeous & not overpowering. My daughter really likes it too & she normally wants to wear glosses & play dress ups with my lippy & with the way her lips have been she just can't & I don't want her to either lol, so this was a nice way for her to look after her lips & feel like she was wearing lippy like Mummy :)
Her lips looked improved after the first use & I used it too & it is lovely & made me lips so soft & smooth. Love that it is protecting lips from the sun too & we had such lovely hot, sunny weather over new years that it was needed & used a lot! It seems to be quite long lasting too & fairly water resistant which was good when we were in & out of the pool & the sea.
Since she has been at her Nanas house my daughters lips have gotten dry & cracked again with a bit of eczema underneath her lower lip but I'm guessing she hasn't been using the lip balm as often & also I think their air conditioning dries her skin out a lot. So as soon as she is home I will be encouraging her to use it more frequently and will be back again with the results!
So far though I like it & would recommend it to others who want a good lip balm that will really protect & smells & feels nice to wear as well :)

Thanks, I received my lip balm last week. I used it as soon as I received it. Firstly, I love the vanilla smell, it's just a hint of vanilla and not really overpowering - lovely! When applied it made my lips feel very soft and I didn't need to apply heaps. I apply it a few times a day, if I'm heading outside I put it on before I go. Would definitely recommend to anyone and I can use it on the kids too (I haven't done so though but wouldn't hesitate to use it on them).

Thanks Blistex and Kidspot for the trial. We received the sample last week, but the weather has mostly kept us indoors. Nevertheless, we've applied it a couple of times.

My wife and daughter have previously tried pretty much all commonly available lip balms and conditioners available from supermarkets, departments stores and pharmacies (eg Blistex, Chapstick, Nivea, Banana Boat, QV, Dr Hauschka, Honey and Herbs, and anything else we come across), but my daughter appears to be sensitive to most of these, and they usually cause more problems than they solve (dry lips, cracked lips, coldsores, flakey skin), and the best so far appears to be the Nivea Repair and Protection.

When the Blistex Ultra arrived, my wife said that we have already tried this product and claimed that this caused my daughter's lips to crack, but proceeded to apply it anyway. I also used it. In the days following, my daughter's lips became rather inflamed, only recovering after 3 days. I cannot confirm that this was due to the Blistex (rather than some other irritant or unidentified allergy encountered at her grandmother's house where we were holidaying), however my wife is convinced it is.

So I am the only one in the family to have continued to use the Blistex, and find it pleasant enough. The vanilla fragrance was noticeable when we received the package, and this is quite pleasant. I find the balm to be waxy-feeling once applied to my lips but I do prefer the more moisturising conditioners as I have dry skin (though these tend to be oilier, which my daughter says makes me look "wet" or "sweaty"). Applied to my finger, I can see that the balm is nicely water resisant, but have yet to test it's longevity in water.

Unfortunately, we haven't seen much sun (or enough "non-rain") to be outdoors long enough to test the effectiveness of the Blistex Ultra yet, but will add another comment once the weather picks up.

The first day of using Blistex I noticed my lips were feeling moistrursed at the end of the day, a new thing for me. The flavour is great and its easy to just pop in your pocket to take with you. Can't wait to see results after using it for a bit longer.

I am forever having to apply some form of lip balm to try and combat my problems. To date nothing has worked very well so please let me try this as it might be the "miracle" cure I am looking for

Hat, shade and sunblock....applied 1/2 hour before you go outside to create a barrier. Reapply before you burn as too late for new barrier to form.

I spend a lot of time outside. It's definitely important to be sunsmart. We have SPF30 sunscreen in our house for EVERYONE, and my kids don't go outside without hats! If we have friends or family over sunscreen is necessary if anyone is going to be outside. I work at a Hospital, and see up close what the sun does to people - and it's not pretty!!! Please everyone - enjoy the summer, but be sunsmart :)

Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap is the rule in my house before you are allowed to go outside to play. My daughter has spent a fair bit of time in hospital this year and the air conditioning in there plays havoc on the skin and lips become dry and chapped so this product would be awesome to trial for both inside the hospital and outside in the sun.

We use SPF 50+ when out in the sun, the kids have it on every day but I must admit I'm a bit lax at applying it to myself, and hubby only has it on when I attack him with it in the mornings before he leaves for work. We do slip slop and wrap as much as possible, but spend a lot of time at the beach and on the boat and in the islands so we all end up pretty tanned.

I use SPF on my face year round, and when it starts to get warmer I also apply SPF to the parts of my body that are revealed to the sun. I always use a SPF lip lotion and have used blistix before, however have not tried the SPF 30 so it would be great to trial. These days its better to have a higher SPF due to the dangerous levels in the sun.

I use 30spf on my face and body if I'm going to be out, but much prefer to cover up in loose light cotton clothes and a baseball cap as I don't like being freshly showered and then slathering myself in greasy lotion! Would love to trial Blistex for lips as when my lips dry out or split I tend to get cold sores which last for a week or more and are really unsightly and painful. My lips dry out quite easily and I've never thought of using a product on them as part of my routine.

However both my wife and daughter tend to suffer from dry lips and have tried every lip balm available in NZ, and are still looking for the Holy Grail.... perhaps this time???

Sunblock, hats, sunglasses, rash suits - the works! My mum had skin cancer back in the early 1980,s when not much was known about it and there was certainly no sun safe awareness back then. In fact, the only sunblock product available had to be bought from Smith & Caughey's on Queen Street and was an Elizabeth Arden face moisturiser with SPF. I'll never forget the trips in to the city just to buy that product. Certainly a different story today!

We also set up the toys in the shade (ie at home the sand & water table, paddling pool etc go under a big brolly!) and when out and about we set up the picnic rug under a tree. I have noticed that most kids playgrounds aren't shaded......perhaps this is so in winter the sun can dry them?!

Before leaving the house, we spray sunblock lotion on them, and before stepping into the sun, they put on their sporty sunglasses and hats. We stay in the shade as much as we can, too. Have not thought about lip-protection, though, so this Blistex Lip Balm sounds pretty useful!
bereca - 8:47 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
My kids wear sunblock and sunhats, my son reacts to so many different types of sunblock that it would be good to trial this on him for extra sun protection. My husband and I also protect ourselves from the sun by wearing sunblock and hats aswell as protection clothing if we are out during the 'peak' times.

Sometimes we don't go out, if Jasmine refuses to wear her sunscreen. *sigh*

Stay out of the sun at it's peak, SUNCREEN! ,wear hats, long shirts, plenty of fluids, and regular skin checks at the doctors.

i follow the rule of early and late sun exposure i.e. before 9am and after 4pm. in between, i stay under a shade. wear a hat. put sunblock and drink plenty of water.

My older son does alot of outdoor activities and has big lips that are always dry and need protection. I would love to try this Blistex Ultra Lip Balm SPF30+ for his protection and to also try on my other two children especially with the vanilla taste. I love the idea that it is water resistant for 80 minutes. Our family stays safe in the sun by covering up and using the appropriate amount of suncream.

I make my kids wear long sleeves most of summer. Aswell as big brim hats and sunscreen. We also try and do stuff outside, early or late, so we miss those really hot hours. My kids are all really fair so I have to be extremely careful.
ingie83 - 7:28 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
I love tanning but since having kids this has changed and now we use sun cream regularly, wear hats and try cover up when in the sun. Would love an outdoor shade sale when we can afford it.

We always wear suncream and hats and t shirts with sleeves if possible but hubby is the sun safe fanatic in the house!! He has suncreams in the pushchair, bag, car everywhere!! We try not to go out in the midday sun but Hubby works outside a lot and i would love to try this on him

We always stay safe in the sun by wearing hats and slapping on sunscreen plus staying in the shade and keeping covered when it's not too hot, It would be great to try this product as covering your lips is something most of us don't do or forget to do, definately something good for kids to wear too :)
livandjimi - 5:48 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
My whole family covers up in sunscreen before we leave the house! and my kiddies wear their hats when outside too! Id love to try this, ive always had a problem with dry lips. Ive heard alot of the big companies put drying agents in their lipbalm to make you use more!

I would love to try this product. I always put on sunscreen and my sunnies when I go out in the sun. I hate hats so only wear them if I am going to be outdoors in the sun for a long time. All my kids wear their hats though and have sunscreen and sunglasses on.

Hi there, I would love to trial Blistex. I have sensitive lips that drive me crazy, particularly during summer so anything that can help protect them from the sun, i am peachy keen to try. To stay safe in the sun, I do the old Slip, Slop, Slap & Wrap! as well as wearing cover ups and sunhats. Thanks team!

I have fair, freckled skin. I don't like to be out in the heat of the sun for very long! I am very good at wearing a cap to protect my face. I don't usually use anything on my lips and recently got wind burn and chapped lips from watching my daughter's soccer game!
rainbow - 4:08 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
I always wear a moisturiser with SPF even in winter on my face. In summer I also wear lots of sunscreen and a hat. Trying to keep the wrinkles away!

I am trying hard to cover up more, I used to love singlets but now I tend to choose clothing with shoulders in them so that I am covered. I also seek the shade and constantly use sunscreen. I'm a bit of a pale skin person so I burn really easily.

I would love to try this, I use Blistex lip conditioner about 5 times a day. I stay sun safe because when my husband applies my sun screen hes not happy till Im shiny and white with such a thick layer :)

Please count me in, my daughter has a real problem with her lips and above her lips , we have tried nearly everything on the market but not this product,so would be great to trial it and see if it actually helps her.

I would like to put my name down for this one.

The easiest way to stay sun safe is to stay out of the sun during the middle of the day.

Apart from that the old slip, slop, slap comes to mind. Using a moisturizer with spf in it is a great way to ensure you are protected every day!
SarahK - 2:19 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
I think this would be fantastic for my husband! He surfs and often ends up with burned, dry lips.
Anywho, we stay safe in the sun by wearing lots of suncream, and hats, and by staying out of the afternoon sun as much as possible (well all but my husband he is usually in the surf during the worst of the days sun). As others have said, the lips often get forgotten about :)
KayleesMum - 1:39 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
I would love to try this for my kids. They live outside in the summer and are very good at slip, slop, slapping but lips are one place that tends to get forgotten!

I would o trial this - as for keeping safe in the sun - I mostly try to stay in the shade, but that will probably not be easy this year with a crawler on my hands lol. So if in the sun I definitely follow the slip slop slap and wrap method.

You can stay out of the sun but you can make sure you and the kids don't get burned.

Using skin care products that have sunscreen in them and staying out of the sun as much as possible during the worst burn times of the day. My lips always get dry and I tend to pick the skin then I get cold sores so Blistex would be beneficial.

My lips can't survive without some sort of chapstick. To keep safe in summer I always wear sunscreen and apply it like it's going out of fashion if I'm swimming. And a hat and sunnies!

Ohhh can I please trial this?! My poor 5 year old daughter has really dry lips & we have tried a few things but nothing so far seems to really protect them or help them much or they sting her lips when applied & I wasn't sure where to turn next. Don't want to waste lots of money buying different things that either hurt or don't work.
She has a habit of rubbing them or picking her lips too & I think applying a lip balm might be a good new habit for her to form!

In answer to the question though, I try to remember to put sunscreen on at least every morning & this is easier now with kids as I do them & then myself & I try to stay out of the sun in the middle of the day.
juliemarie - 12:43 PM on Mon-12-Dec-2011 reply | message
We apply sunscreen every mornin before we head out the door. We all wear hats while out in the sun and once we get to the beach we aim to go in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the full, hot sun :)

I have a lip balm addiction and am always on the look out for a decent one that has a good spf rating! I wear sunscreen daily no matter how sunny or grey it is, especially on my face and chest to avoid the early skin aging look my mother always nags at me about.

I try my best to avoid harsh sunlight as 3 yrs ago I got extremely burnt and ended up bedridden for days... It was awful. The doctor gave me a stern telling off and now I am super careful. But somehow my lips always end up dry and sore. I had a nose op a few yrs back too and it (didn't help and) has left me only being comfortable breathing through my mouth at night- I get very dry lips because of this. Would love to try this for not just sun protection but also wind ;)
