Sleeping like a ............. Mummy
Posted 3:45 PM on Sat-6-Oct-2012
For some unexplained reason today, when I decided to have an after lunch nap, nobody bothered me. In fact, nobody even noticed I was sleeping (obviously because nobody bothered me).

I woke up with a sore back this morning, and after lunch sitting in the hard chair at the dining table while we scoffed pikelets was the last straw. I took a couple of neurofen and told The Bloke I was going to lay down on the bed for a bit.

The Bloke is doing his fire brigade training at the moment so this morning, he had found himself a quiet(ish) spot and told the kids not to bother him unless they really needed something. Luckily today they felt like complying and as of lunch time he had managed a couple of hours straight studying.

I was hoping for a half hour at least of just being able to do nothing and waiting for the pain relief to kick in so I could continue on doing the weekend chores. THREE hours later with Pocket leaping over the folded washing, and The Legend shaking me on the other side of the bed, I hear The Bloke say "you do realise it's four o'clock aye"?

What a hoot. Who would have thought, on a rainy windy boring spring day, that this Mummy would lay down on the bed for 40 winks and wake up three hours later! Can't say I remember the last time that happened! When I was a baby perhaps!

Go JO!

Sooo jealous. Miss almost 3 goes to daycare 3 times a week so you'd think that I'd be able to get the odd sleep in here and there - not a chance. Miss 4 1/2 months thinks day sleeps are for pussies and most days I can only get her down for 20 min power naps at the most and thats only if she is lying on me. Yay for Kidspot and facebook to keep me entertained and slightly sane

Oh lucky you! I am on 'holiday' at my parents' place (with kids and hubby). I didn't sleep well last night due to recurring problems with hayfever and not being in my own bed, then got up mega early to watch our favourite team in the final of the rugby league from the UK. With a trip to the cinema and shopping coming up in the afternoon I tried to steal a few moments of sleep ... but no such luck. Every Tom, **** and Harry decided they would come and see where I was and what I was doing and ask me why I was sleeping (or trying to) - er well, maybe because I'm tired?! The final straw was when my fall-asleep-in-front-of-the-TV-every-day-for-sever

hildren husband disturbed me to ask me why I was sleeping! Really?!

yay! nana naps are awesome. I had one this morning, though was more the result of medication side effects more than anything, but i felt better afterwards :)
Glad you got some rest. I think us mums should get to do this more often!
