Broadening their horizons...

We have, much to the delight and relief of the rest of the MumBum Household, managed to broaden the horizons of the 2 year old and 8 month old.

No longer are we all tortured with repetitive screenings and tantrums about Barnyard!!! YAY!!!

We have managed to convince them that Ice Age and Toy Story 2 are great alternatives to Barnyard and they actually will sit and watch them!

It may seem like a small thing to everyone else, but to the members of our household, it is a massive deal!

No longer are we forced to go through the day with Barnyard blaring in the background, no longer do we deal with the dramatic screaming and tantrums when someone refuses to put Barnyard on for fear of losing the plot due to the cruel and unusual torture which Barnyard has become equal to!

We now can all sit through Toy Story2 or Ice Age and if anyone (namely the 7 year old) complains, the threat is "we could always watch Barnyard..." that takes care of any complaints quick smart!

Now the new plan is to slowly add to their video collection so that we don't grow to hate Ice Age or Toy Story 2 as well.

I am sooooooooooooo thankful to have escaped the Barney craze, no offense to the big purple dinosaur but he drives me mental, him and the Wiggles too...we are definately going to get the rest of the Ice Age movies and Toy Story movies on VHS as well as A Bug's Life.

I love videos because they cannot be damaged unless you really smash them, DVDs get wrecked in our house because no one ever remembers to put them away in their cases then the 2 year old gets hold of them and slides them across the floors!lol

omg my older girls went through a Barney stage too. aghh!!!!! So pleased that's over! but now im humming the Barney tune.... it just never leaves :P

Oh and we did manage to broaden his horizons by adding Thomas the Tank Engine to his collection (and i'm now humming a Thomas Tune, lol)

I remember sitting in Hospital with my then 2yr old son watching episode after episode of Barney. Mr now 17 just loved him and we have a lovely picture of him and Barney when he came to visit the sick children in hospital. Unluckily for everyone else in the ward there was only 1 video chanel so they all had to put up with Barney. At one stage we were in hospital for a 6mth stint and I can still remember lots of the songs and find myself singing them to Miss3 :P!

My son went through a phase of loving Bear in the Big Blue House, even to the extent that the whole family would end up watching the late night Disney reruns! When I bought him a Bear Live DVD and Bear left at the end of the concert he cried genuine tears of sadness :( It was heartbreaking. He also had a Toy Story addiction and we almost wore that video tape out!
