First visit
Posted 12:41 PM on Thu-9-May-2013
the school visits weren't actually supposed to start until next week, but we've been checking out the classroom each time we drop the big brothers off at school and on Monday ds3's new teacher was there setting up. We wandered in to say hello and have a look around inside, and when we left his teacher said 'see you on Wednesday'. You should have seen his face fall when I told him he wouldn't be coming . Long story short he inveigled himself into this week's visit too. So yesterday he was up early, dressed in his teeny wee uniform, bag packed and ready to go before I was even out of bed. All three boys were excited about it. In fact ds2 had been up crying in Read More...

Getting prepared
Posted 8:52 PM on Sat-4-May-2013
my littlest boy starts school in 4 weeks. I'm not coping with it very well lol.Today we went and bought his school uniform. It just doesn't seem right for such a little boy to be in a uniform at all. He was proud as punch trying it on tho, looking at himself in the mirror with his chest puffed out while I quietly sniffled and wiped away a surreptitious tear. At least we didn't have to get the smallest of everything. The size 3 polar fleece was a tad short in the arms for him so he's wearing a rather long size 5. Shorts and shirt in size 4. I can't help comparing to his brothers who wore size 6 when they started school! This getting ready lark isn't cheap either! Read More...

I've had theory's and perspectives going through my head for days (and nights). I'm so glad it's over, but now onto 2 more papers this semester!!!Now the nervous wait for the results :P!

Getting Organised.
Posted 10:48 AM on Fri-1-Feb-2013
I am due to start my study programme on 25/02/2013!The programme is through OPNZ and is a three year programme: Bachelor in Business (Human Resource Management). While it is very exciting, it is also a bit scary as I haven't studied since I left school and before then, I have so much to organise.I have decided that in order to help me focus on my studies, I will put my youngest two into care and am currently researching home based providers so that my boys can stay together and will not be too unsettled with the transition from being at home full time with Mummy to going into a daycare.I intend to have them in care for only three days a week if possible, and have the coincide with Mr Mum Read More...

I finally did it...
Posted 8:54 AM on Tue-25-Sep-2012
Yesterday, I finally took the plunge... I enrolled with OPNZ to study starting the first trimester in 2013! I have always worked fulltime in a variety of demanding and interesting positions. I have been a Contact Centre Representative, Contact Centre Team Leader, A BDM for a liquor supplier (by far the coolest job ever for a young single person!), a loans officer, a recruitment consultant and then finally a Student Adviser. I have been lucky enough in the past to have my experience and skills which I gained "on the job" to count in my gaining further employment; you see, I am one of those people who appart from a Sales and Market certificate through David Forman, I have school certificate Read More...

Need to learn? Ask a kid!
Posted 8:35 AM on Tue-31-Jul-2012
Well this last week has been an interesting one! I feel lost, but my housework has never been so up to date.My computer crashed. It turns on and then freezes from there. Its going in to be looked at tomorrow, but it's looking like I'm going to need a new one.You don't realize how much you need or use something till its gone! I do a lot of work on the computer and online, so I'm backed up with work and currently using the old fashioned pen and paper.I've been lucky enough today at charting unmarked territory. I have borrowed an iPad. Well, let me tell you, we didn't get off to a good start! It's a sad day when you have to ask your four year old how to work i Read More...

The last playgroup :(
Posted 2:41 PM on Thu-26-Jul-2012
Today marked the end of one era in life for my family. My youngest attended her last playgroup this morning. In less than two weeks she starts school. We made a cake to share (egg & dairy free to cover all the kids allergies) and took the camera to capture all the memories. It's gona be so strange for me now. I've had a preschooler in the house for the last 14 years. It feels like the end of an era. I'll still be attending playgroup with my care kids. So it's not like im leaving behind some friends i'll never see again or anything. But im just really sad about it.Im the one suffering the separation anxiety. Which i guess is a good thing. She is happy to be g Read More...

School Dilemma
Posted 1:41 PM on Tue-29-May-2012
My eldest isn't four until July but I have been pondering which school we are going to send our girls to. There are four primary schools about equal distance from us. 1.The only one I would consider walking distance is a private school which is not even being considered.2. The school I had always pictured my girls going to I'm not sure about now. I have heard too many negative things lately. In the weekend I heard another thing that put me off and that was from someone that did some long term relieving there this year.3. The school everyone is suggesting to me is huge, 25 classes. I want my children to be more than a number. We are also out of zone for it.4. The final school is abo Read More...

Baby Boy Dolls, why are they not easy found??
Posted 8:48 AM on Wed-9-May-2012
So my other shopping problem I have found is that the general shops don't stock baby boy dolls, I did realize that they had loads of baby girl dolls but never really thought about there are no boy babies, because we always got the girl doll (probably due to no other choice) and little Miss is a girl it made sense. But now when I want one for little Miss from her brother (as her present from him), and so when I do things (change his nappy etc)she can help or copy with her baby, not to mention she has asked for a boy baby with a penis. But they just are not there even the dolls with blue clothing so I guess to represent a boy is still girly looking and lacking something. I know you can ge Read More...

First day jitters, and second, and so on
Posted 9:09 AM on Wed-1-Feb-2012
The trouble with having a very bright child, is that something's got to give somewhere. While The Legend may read, spell and comprehend far beyond his seven young years, it is counteracted by his lack of confidence.I am being 100% honest when I say that I think he is the most anxious boy in the whole of his school. It is day two of term one and by now he will be sitting up in class with all the other kids, like nothing has happened, like the morning was normal. By I know it is not normal. It is not the norm for a seven year old boy, with a lovely teacher and plenty of friends, and seemingly nothing to worry about to burst into tears at the school gate.I admit, he's getting better w Read More...
