Proud Mummy Moments
Posted 7:34 AM on Fri-11-Jul-2014
Brag Alert! hahaWell the end of term saw all three of my girls come home with good school reports. Is this too unusual for my children? Well, not really. However this time they were amazing!Seems all the study I have been doing has been rubbing off on my children. My teenagers grades have improved heaps over the last two terms. Usually on miss 16's report, it states her homework is rarely done. This time, ALL was completed, in EVERY subject. Both my older girls reports stated the should be 'Commended' for their great achievements these last 6 months.YAY!!! Happy happy Mummy!!Miss 6 has improved in her reading, jumping up 5 reading levels in just a few weeks. And she is wr Read More...

Clever Mummy
Posted 6:51 PM on Mon-7-Jul-2014
I finally share some good news for a change! After months of stress and a days of our lives like family situation, its nice to be able to say, with extreme happiness... That I passed my exam!I'm actually on cloud 9! and even though my arthritis is playing up from the stress of recent weeks, I've managed to bounced around all afternoon like a looney toon with happiness. Crazy, yes. Over the top? definitely. But I don't care.I'm so shocked I passed this paper. Statistics is not my subject. It was a compulsory paper for me, and one I really struggled with! I spent much of the semester trying to keep up, and wondering what everyone was talking about. So pleased with myself rig

Empowering little children against little bullies
Posted 1:26 PM on Fri-6-Jun-2014
My 5 year is quite a little dot of a child. She is small for age, but she certainly makes up for it with her ballsiness. I am so proud of how she has handled herself in recent weeks at school. Especially in relation to one little boy who is quite the bully.I realise that boys, like girls are all different. Some are more rowdy, some active and some quiet. But in terms of mean behaviour, there is no excuse and I think that it is important that it is dealt with promptly and consistently. We have always taught our girls to stand up for themselves. Sentences like " please stop it, I don't like it." have been instilled in them from when they were young, but in that instant of bu Read More...

School girls wearing make-up at school
Posted 4:14 PM on Tue-6-May-2014
Miss 14 (year 10) was telling me last night that there are "a lot" of senior girls at her College who wear make-up that looks "caked on".  She can't understand why they do that and said they just look stupid.   The school policy says "make-up, including nail polish, is not to be worn".  It's not as if she doesn't know about make-up, I wear it every day, her mother wears it, and she just bought some turquoise eyeshadow on the weekend.   However I think she is feeling slightly confused and wondering if when she is a 'senior' at College she might be accepted socially if she was to wear make-up.  We Read More...

Where to go and what to do now
Posted 10:28 AM on Mon-28-Apr-2014
I apologise now. This will be a little drawn out, just so I can explain in more detail the situation. From the ages of 6 1/2 months and 3 1/2 years, my sons attended a learning centre, this had only opened approx 5 months before hand, so reasonably new.All classes were segregated.(Babies= newborn to 18 moths)(Toddlers= 18 months to 2 1/2 years)(Preschool 1= 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years)(Preschool 2= 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years)(Preschool 3= 4 1/2 to 5 years)Both boys were booked in and attended 50 hours a week, really hard not wanting to go back to work, but having too, to pay the mortgage and other bills, though in hindsight, not really worth it by the time you pay daycare fees.Every day was like Groundhog Read More...

The Heat is On!

One of the online courses I am doing at the moment has a deadline.  I didn't really pay too much attention to it when I signed up in November.  But I took a look yesterday and noted it was 1st of May.  That's not far away and I have 30 parts left to go.  At 1 - 2 hours each.  Ummmmm....I may be quiet for a bit lolz.

It is Sunday night, and I have three courses on the go at the moment. One digital marketing one just waiting for me to take the big final test, and two project management courses. I have a website to finish and business to build for a set launch date. I have a few chores crying out to be done. And what am I about to do? Go to sleep! That's what! Good night!!

Study can be fun..

When your lecturer sounds so good Irish, with a head cold.  So a bit husky.  LolzI'm doing this course at the moment, by webinar.  Except I constantly miss the lecture - it's at 7am GMT, so basically 7pm here - anywhere between 7 and 9 my kids are going to bed so it's just not great timing.  So I have to wait for the recording to be published and that happens around 9:30pm.  Then the one hour lecture is filled with questions as well, which they try to keep to the end.  80% of the questions are stuff he has already said.  But I am learning heaps because I am engaged and enjoy listening to him talk.  In fact, I think if he was teaching an Read More...

Busy Busy Busy

Boy do I feel out of the loop at the moment.Social Life = zero! I'm surviving on 5 hours sleep a night too. Yes some of you out there are just, or more, sleep deprived after having babies, but when you don't have a baby, and have been sleeping all night for years, this take a little getting used to.Being a parent and studying is hard. I figured now that my children are older it would be easier than when I was studying last time, and they were in daycare. I was wrong. I had failed to take into account that older children stay up later, and chat your ear off. Miss 15 is rarely in bed before 11pm and gets rather frustrated when I tell her I can't talk and need to read. 200 pages Read More...
