So its only been 4 days at school for Mr 5 and i had a chat with his teacher this morning saying how he doesn't  recognise words and struggles to pay attention with focusing on books/listening...My boy is more of an outside hands on kind of lad, and i knew that he may struggle with learning when it came to school, the teacher told me that they do a assessment in a months time to see how he has come along, I want to help him as much as i can to show some progress.... Another thing he does is pretends he doesn't actually know how to do something, but really he does, like the teacher asked him if he knew his abc's ...he said he didn't and didn't know how to count.. Exam time!
Posted 6:40 AM on Fri-13-Feb-2015
I'm up early. Usually I'm up this early so I can have coffee before the kids wake, but this morning I have an exam.Miss 16, being the moody thing that she is at present, has taken the amount of alone time I have requested to study, not as a desire to do well, but as a being extremely nervous. I'm pleased to say I'm not nervous at all! Yay! But I'm still hoping I do well. As this was a summer school paper, I have been a little slack. I read something somewhere yesterday that said something about exam time... When did you become an expert on this subject.... um... last night! haha. yes I crammed last night :P But I also have been for two weeks :PRight. Coffee infu

'Coming out' to your parents
Posted 7:55 PM on Sat-30-Aug-2014
Trigger warning: The following may be upsetting to some readers.I have just read an article and watched a video clip about a boy telling his family that he is gay. Well, it was quite shocking to say the least! you can read and watch it HERE It is rather upsetting I feel, that in this day and age, people are still taking issue with other people's sexuality. This poor boy was disowned by his family, just because he is gay. They verbally and physically attacked him, just because he is gay.I have a few friends who are gay/lesbian. They are the nicest people, and no different than anyone else, I can't imagine how hard it must have been for some of them to even bridge the topic Read More...

Snowed under
Posted 10:38 AM on Fri-15-Aug-2014
To say I was stressed may be a little bit of an understatement today. This evening, at midnight, I have an assignment due. I have such a stressful week that I haven't had a lot of time to spend on it. Evenings were the only time I had. So, as luck would have it, Miss 16 chose this week so chat my ear off until 10pm each time. It meant that I didn't get any study done until she finally went off to bed, and I ended up staying up till after midnight. She did this mon and tues, and by wednesday I felt sick. 10pm that night I had no choice but to give up and go to bed. Last night, after I pushed the issue, she headed to her room at 6.45pm and I got the other two girls ready fo Read More...

Finally getting help!
Posted 7:43 PM on Wed-30-Jul-2014
Miss 13 has been having issues since she was born. When she started school we had her hearing tested, and visited several professionals who diagnosed her on the autism spectrum, and with CPD. Ever since then, we have battled with schools to get her the extra help that she needs. Since then, schools have blamed her learning disabilities in the fact I was a young mother, and called me lazy and unhelpful. I've spent years trying to catch her up on school learning at home, whilst also trying to hold down a job and deal with my own health issues. Since then, things surrounding miss 13's learning have been rather frustrating.Well I must say that I'm SUPER happy with her new high scho Read More...

First Day of term
Posted 6:45 AM on Mon-21-Jul-2014
It was rather hard getting up this morning. After two weeks of being rather lazy, my body was not ready for the 5.45am start I inflicted on it. Other than it being hard to get up this morning, so far things are going ok. Lunches are made, cuppa has been brewed and Im now sitting on the couch, trying to to wake up a little more while the kids get ready. Its a typical first day back to school in the middle of winter. Wet and rainy. It was 10 degrees in here this morning. Warmer than It would have been, had I not studied so late last night however. Its still dark, and the kids have been commenting how they can't wait for summer. Not just for the warmth, but summer also means they are not dro Read More...

Proud Mummy Moments
Posted 7:34 AM on Fri-11-Jul-2014
Brag Alert! hahaWell the end of term saw all three of my girls come home with good school reports. Is this too unusual for my children? Well, not really. However this time they were amazing!Seems all the study I have been doing has been rubbing off on my children. My teenagers grades have improved heaps over the last two terms. Usually on miss 16's report, it states her homework is rarely done. This time, ALL was completed, in EVERY subject. Both my older girls reports stated the should be 'Commended' for their great achievements these last 6 months.YAY!!! Happy happy Mummy!!Miss 6 has improved in her reading, jumping up 5 reading levels in just a few weeks. And she is wr Read More...

Clever Mummy
Posted 6:51 PM on Mon-7-Jul-2014
I finally share some good news for a change! After months of stress and a days of our lives like family situation, its nice to be able to say, with extreme happiness... That I passed my exam!I'm actually on cloud 9! and even though my arthritis is playing up from the stress of recent weeks, I've managed to bounced around all afternoon like a looney toon with happiness. Crazy, yes. Over the top? definitely. But I don't care.I'm so shocked I passed this paper. Statistics is not my subject. It was a compulsory paper for me, and one I really struggled with! I spent much of the semester trying to keep up, and wondering what everyone was talking about. So pleased with myself rig
