A huge shock to find out we are expecting a third, but a good one. we only found out last Thursday and I'm already experiencing heartburn when i eat, not bad but I'm curious to know if its common to get morning sickness and heartburn? i had morning sickness with our 2nd and I'm kind of on edge wondering if i will get morning sickness too, I am praying i won't as i didn't cope very well last time.

Thanks Kasey Glennie

Congratulations on your pregnancy! In my experience both heartburn and morning sickness seem very common - I only know a handful of mums who didn't get them but the majority of my mum friends did, although of course some were worse than others. For me personally I was sick til 18 weeks with my first and 32 weeks with my second, and had heartburn with both from about 25 weeks onwards. For your sake I hope you don't get either or at least that they pass quickly, as I didn't cope well either, especially during my second pregnancy. Good luck!

Congratulations!!! Thats such exciting news!
Its extremely common, and I suffered both from very early on. I also found It started earlier with each pregnancy, and found that I felt sicker when I was really tired, so likely if you already have children that are keeping you busy. so take it as easy as you can. I found Taking Elevit the third time made my morning sickness much easier to deal with.
I really do hope you don't get it though!!!  Take care xx

congratulations on your happy surprise. Bummer about the heartburn, I really hope you don't get saddled with morning sickness too.
I suffered appalling heartburn through all of my pregnancies (but not from sickness except when really tired) and here's what I found helped.
Eat small and regular, avoid large meals.
Avoid anything spicey, high fat, sugary or including yeast. Bread was my biggest trigger. With everything else already off the menu it doesn't leave much more than fruit and veg to eat *sigh*
Avoid laying down after eating,
Don't drink too much water when eating
A mouthful of milk can help if it's mild heartburn, just make sure it's not full fat milk.
Be careful of heartburn remedies, many contain aluminium which you don't want to be taking while pg. Gaviscon is (well was 4 yrs ago) fine, I should have taken out shares the way I was chugging it back.

Congratulations and yes for me it is very common.  Although I didn't get heartburn that much I had severe morning sickness, hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) for 8 months with both my boys it started like clockwork at 4 weeks for both and didn't stop the entire prenancy even while I was in labour but as soon as I had the boys I was back to normal.  A common side affect of severe morning sickness was fainting also so be careful with my first I hit the back of my head and I now have about a 9cm scar.  If it is really bad I recommend keeping a bowl handy as if you get up or vomit to fast you may faint.  Also see a specialist or your doctor if you feel you need medication.  With my second pregnancy I had medication which helped but it was very expensive and I only managed to get it though a specialist my doctor wasn't able to write a script for it, but I think doctors can now.  All the best for your pregnancy and don't forget it is only 9 months and then you have the most beautiful baby :)

Congrats on the great news!!! In my experience in a word YES. It got more severe with each pregnany especially the heartburn, with the last one i unfortunately did some permanent damage and now have to take omeprazole to keep it at bay. I also took Ranitidine at times during the last pregnancy, although i hated the thought of taking medication and it being passed on to bubs so didn't take it as often as i should have. If it gets really bad do ask for help though it could prevent you from what happened to me. Ekubo's advise is great i would say the same thing too but also lift the head end of the bed up with books or blocks. Good luck i hope you can cope better than me i now say i could quite possibly have another if i didn't have to go through a pregnancy again! but i'm sure you'll be fine and so worth it at the end :)
