I've just been watching the videos in the kidspot article "no sew kids costumes" http://www.kidspot.co.nz/article+6899+75+Easy-dress-ups--5-no-sew-kids-costumes.htm
They are awesome!
I thought I would share a photo of a no sew fairy skirt I made for my little girl last month:

To make a skirt like the one I made, is very similar to the instructions in the Kidspot article.  You need to use the finer tulle, (the stiff netting/tulle doesn't work so well) in different colours, along with ribbon etc.  These strips all get looped around the elastic waistband with slipknots.  Then each strip get tied to the next one.  Really simple and so effective!
