Baby explosions
Posted 1:36 AM on Mon-13-Aug-2012
7 weeks in and I've had it pretty easy only twice has baby had a leaky nappy and once had a poo explosion up her back. All 3 times because poppa didn't do her nappy tight enough bless his 'helping' heart, so I decided whenever poppa tries to change her I'll step in claiming its my job anyway and he can help by feeding her expressed milk. Well today I experienced a new explosion.Sitting on my friends couch cross legged in a skirt, baby snuggled into the little hollow your legs make, fed, burped and happy then in her sleep she has a little spit-up, no big and then it happened... The most vomit I have EVER seen come out of something so small I swear it was 50% her bodily fluids it went up in a massive arc and back down my front into the little gap in-between my crossed legs.I was horrified, there was baby vomit on my friends couch, and she had seen it happen and my friends sister and brother-in-law had seen it happen. I looked at my baby and she looked up at me and she looked in shock, she kind of looked afraid! My friends sister thank goodness removed my baby and gave her to her husband, I slowly stood from the couch vom dripping everywhere, my friends sister grabbing me a towel and a sarong, my friend in hysterics on the floor.I get shoo-ed to the bathroom to discover everything is soaked right down to my underwear, I quickly rinse, change and come back to the lounge where my friends sister has been so lovely to clean not only the vomit but my baby too, she said I looked more in shock than my baby and it was the least she could do to help the situation. So today I learnt a few things 1. babies have a lot of vomit inside of them 2. don't trust poppa to feed baby expressed milk as he will overfeed her. 3. always pack an extra pair of clothes for yourself in the baby bag. JUST IN CASE.

It is incredible, I had those waterfall vomits for about the first 6 weeks and it is amazing, wondered how they fitted so much in that little tum. I'm a bit like you though, so enjoying my daughter now she is 13 months, I found that newborn stage really stressful although now i'm seriously clucky again and I keep reminding myself about how hard I found it....... remember remember remember... LOL!

@mumof6. Poor grandad! My dad has been trying so hard to help only for it to backfire, it is so endearing to see my parents with my baby although I do sometimes wonder how me and my siblings even made it to adulthood.

@ChristineC. Thank goodness my baby enjoys her food too much to waste any bringing it back up lol but OMG I went crazy because my mom wouldn't let us leave the house for the 1st 6weeks either, being flu season and all.

@jopukeko. You poor thing. I'm made with a cast iron stomach nothing has ever made me sick (outside of pregnancy) the only exception being drool, which of course babies have a lot of. Thank goodness I had my friends sister to clean me and baby up, poor you.

I was shocked at how much came out just a gushing waterfall, and then I had to feed her again once she was all cleaned up lol. And I can't wait until she's older and I can do things with her. I have never been a 'baby' person, little kids though? I can dig. :)

Lol we have a baby with bad reflux and would projectile vomit up most of her feed for the first 6 weeks until we got medication sorted for her so i know exactly how you feel. It was so bad we didnt leave the house for fear she would vomit all over everyone elses house.

The only time my daughter did that she was about 10 months old and I was pregnant with number 2 and we hadn't told anyone yet. I was struggling to keep my stomach settled as well as cleaning me, the baby and my friend's couch.

Oh that brings back memories, I remember the first time my little girl did one of those vomit explosions.... I could not beleive how much there was, I honestly thought there was something wrong with her. at least it's easier to clean than the poo explosions. Enjoy her while she is so small, they grow so fast.
