Topic : SONGS OF THE SUMMER!
MumBum - `10` `2011-09-27 07:18:41`

I love it when you hear songs that completely and utterly remind you of Summertime! This morning, on the way to work on the radio was playing SANTA MONICA by EVERCLEAR... I was instantly taken back to the 90's, summer nights with my mates on the beach, an open fire and lots of talking, laughing, dancing and just enjoying the Summer nights!

That got me thinking about other people and songs they may have which remind them of certain times.

Do you have any songs which for you sound the coming of Summer?

Ooooo I agree with lots of what everyone has said... definately in our house KORA brings the sound of Summer... especially if you've seen them live!

Also, DAM NATIVE.

Hi - the song by Don Henley called "Boys of Summer" is definitely a reminder of summers of my youth (not that I'm that old!!) but it reminds me of one particular summer when I was young, carefree (i.e. no children lolol) and madly in love with a surfy type boy who broke my heart when the holidays were over....  have long gotten over him and thankfully I still love that song!

Santa Monica - classic. We must be of similar age MumBum. It's funny though how every summer there seems to be a song that pops up, old or new that just sticks to that year. We spend a lot of time with family over the summer months and I always make up music mixes with songs to suit everyone so it could be a real oldie or something quite new.

Some which scream 'summer' for me are

Khe Sahn - Cold Chisel
American Pie - Don Mclean
Take it Easy - The Eagles
Betterman - Pearl Jam
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison

last summer I downloaded a few (legally by the way) and so I think of these ones from last Christmas time with all the family round

Something in the water -Brooke Fraser
Forget you - Cee Lo Green
Sex on Fire - Kings of Leon
Stay the night - James Blunt

I heard a song by 'At The Drive In' on the radio the other day. We played their album over and over one summer and hearing that song instantly reminded me of that summer! Ahh.... good times. like you open fires on the beach.... *thinks back with smiles on face*
