Topic : Do you get a sleep-in on the weekend?
JulieKidspotter - `10` `2012-07-10 11:57:57`

Now that my kids are a bit older I have rediscovered the weekend lie-in. In years gone by (pre-kids), a sleep-in on the weekend was a given - in fact, I cringe at how much time I spent lying in bed on weekend mornings (and almost afternoons!), watching TV or just sleeping. Of course, the sleep-in nowadays is pre-double figures, rather than pre-afternoon!

Do you ever get a sleep-in?

No such luck!! We have sport on Saturday mornings and we go to Church on Sunday mornings. However, on the odd Saturday when sports are cancelled, we have tea in bed and snuggle up with the kids for a bit longer :)

I wish....my children never miss 6am one gets up 6:30 the other, at that time Hi 5 is on and they come into my room TV goes on,  so Ive been watching them forever, when my husband or myself have had a long week or day we alternate one gets kids up the other a lie in, doesn't happen much I think our body clocks are a bit fine tuned to the kids. But when they are with the grand parents rather annoying, kids are away parents still up around 6 7 lol so I give up haha

we take turns sometimes in the weekend, or if one of us is super tired then we just get up to the kids. Hubby is great when I've been working ate nights and can usually tell when I need more rest. I work till 2am some mornings so am always shattered come the weekend.

Nope not here, but I really don't mind not having sleep-ins. My 5 yr old son is Autistic so his routine is very much the same and wakes between 6-6:30 am every morning. The good thing about his routine is that he's in bed at 7 pm every night and doesn't make a sound until morning so for that I'm very thankful. I'm due with baby no.3 end of Sept. so no chance of sleep-ins in the near future either lol.

nah not us. Hubby and I are usually both up early, well we will stay in bed till 8 some days lol Or if one of us decides to take the kiddies downstairs so the other can have a sleep in, but it is hard keeping them quiet lol I must admit I do miss my weekend sleep ins hahahah can not beat cuddles n kisses from my girls as a wake up though :)

I get one about every second weekend. 10 - 10:30 is about my limit, on dps' week he'll stay in bed until I unleash the kids on him.

I rarely get up before 8:30 on weekends anyway unless one of the boys has a really early game of rugby. They get up and amuse themselves, mostly tv or the wii. The eldest gets some brekkie for the youngest if he's hungry. Mind you I get a visit from each of them for a cuddle when they wake up, and then updates from the wee one about what they're playing, what he had for breakfast, whether he's been to the toilet, how many wipes he did etc so there's not much actual sleep being done, just lazing and dozing.

Shorrty4life, I do hope my daughter turns out like yours, that sounds like bliss!
shorrty4life - 7:46 PM Tue-10-Jul-2012
Yup everyday. my daughter always wakes between 9 and 9.30am everyday. And if we have a l8 meal out like we did last w.e we were not home until 10.30pm and she slept til 11am the next morning. She is 19months old. <3

Yeah we generally get a bit of a sleep in on the weekends - but in saying that we are normally both up about 8.30-9.00 ish.  My older two boys (aged 8 and 6) get my daughter (aged 18 mths) out of bed and they all watch TV.  Sometimes I get up and give the little one a bottle so she has something in her tummy, but then I go back to bed until she comes in asking for brekkie.

I do sometimes, but for me a sleep in is 9am at the latest. I can't seem to sleep past then at all.
Mr MumBum is very kind so will leave me to sleep on any given day because if I am still in bed by about 8am, he knows that I must have had a hard night with our younger two and he gets up and gets started on the house work, breakfast for the kids etc.

I am lucky, he is really good with getting on with stuff and we work together as a team really well.

I wish...

Can't remember the last time I had a sleep in.

I'm up at 5am each work day Mon-Fri.

And most weekends I'm upat 5.30am with my youngest he still doesn't understand the whole sleep in thing,he's almost 3 but always up early.

Most mornings he's up just after me :(

thecoffeelady - 1:00 PM Tue-10-Jul-2012
Not yet, I'm really looking forward to being able to have a sleep in again when she is a little older. Once or twice my hubby has looked after her so I could have a little extra time in bed but only until 8.30 or 9am not like before children.

I have just started getting sleep in's again. Its the holidays and i havn't had many early starts for work, so some day i havn't gotten out of bed till 7.30. But, as my kids now go to their dads on a saturday night, i can sleep in on a sunday morning. didn't get up till 9.30 last sunday. Was great!

I have had 14 years of now sleep in's till this point, so i feel my sleeping in is well deserved!!!

cherrytf - 12:13 PM Tue-10-Jul-2012
Only recently. Our kids usually have sports games on Saturday mornings, while Sundays we go to church. So I've been taking advantage of the school winter break, sleeping in the past two Saturday mornings and will do again this coming Saturday.
jopukeko - 12:05 PM Tue-10-Jul-2012
My husband and I take turns in the weekend. One morning he gets up to the kids and the other I do. We both used to have a sleep when the girls had their afternoon nap but now only our youngest naps so only Hubby naps then and I often take the opportunity to get shopping done with only one child in tow.
